Join us on February 2nd for a potluck brunch to celebrate Imbolc and Brigid, the Irish Goddess of Healing, Poets, and Craftsman/Smiths. She is also known as a Goddess of Fire, and Fertility.
Imbolc, often referred to as Candlemas or Oimelc, is the festival that marks the halfway point between the Winter Solstice, and the Spring Equinox and is a celebration of fertility for the coming year, and new beginnings and life. It is the celebration of the return of the light, the fertility of the land and animals, and the flowing of milk from ewes and cattle.
This is the time of year when the seeds of spring are beginning to wake, and the light is returning for the warming of the soil. To our ancestors who struggled for food during the long, cold winter months, it also symbolizes a return of abundance with crops growing soon and cattle rearing their young.
We will have a potluck feast, bring a dish of your choosing! We will be providing some breads and a quiche.
Traditional foods for Imbolc include grains and dairy products.
We look forward to seeing you all!
